Montgomery County Republican Committee Calls on Democratically-Controlled MCIU to Pay Back Expenses for Safari, Personal Trips

Blue Bell, PA: The Montgomery County Republican Committee issued the following statement in response to the Philadelphia Inquirer article stating that Montco Intermediate Unit leaders used public funds to purchase “professional development” trips to Africa, Singapore, South Korea and Central Europe:

“It is completely unethical for this Democratically controlled board to use public dollars to fund their outlandish junkets at taxpayers’ expense. As residents of Montgomery County, we are outraged that these thinly disguised vacations occurred with no oversight by the board. We call on these individuals to pay back the cost of these trips immediately. The typical salary of these employees exceeds $250,000 per year. A full public and transparent accounting needs to take place before MCIU receives another dollar from taxpayers.”

For a brighter future for our kids, we need your support to secure Republicans in office.
